First

I went to Richmond for the first time yesterday! As we drove around the town I was thinking, "This is a place I need to spend more time in." I forget that it is one of THE Southern cities.
.

I definitely got the tour of the rough parts of town and didn't even get a chance to see the pretty parts. I'm excited to go back in a few weeks. Especially since my trip to Birmingham has been canceled! (SO SAD.)

This morning I'll be working in Reba's hometown, Rolesville. If you haven't been reading her blog, you totally should. I laugh out loud all the time!

Haha. "Southern French" is a new one for me!

I was first there a few weeks ago trying to drive from Bunn to Butler to visit some restaurants for work. I was pretty lost following the directions, "Drive straight down that road" when the crazy thing forked every ten miles!

I was driving past these really pretty houses and green pastures thinking, "I could live here and I looked up and saw the sign welcoming me Rolesville." Your hometown is markedly more pretty than the surrounding towns! Isn't that bizarre?

Anyway, I was visiting one of those places again.

Did someone say Birmingham and Trip in the same sentence? Richmond is actually a LOT like Birmingham, but with more outdoor art events so you get a shorter trip and more bang for your buck.

Places you must eat at in Richmond:

1. An ethopian restaurant on broad street, not to far from the big VCU building.
2. Strawberry Street Cafe
3. Croakers Spot

I like Birmingham about a 100x more than Richmond, I actually find them pretty different!

Well Kristen, I have to agree with you. Birmingham is 100X better than Richmond.

But you must admit they have alot of similarities:
1. Population/ socioeconomic mix
2. Great restaurants
3. Named after cities in the UK
4. Urban Universities
5. Pre/Post Civil War racial tension
6. Strong art influenced culture (though Birmingham is more of a performing arts area)

I love the pictures of your fabulously cute house.
